WA raises the bar in terms of building design

The first stage of Design WA is now out and it is worth having a look! Alternatively, you can discuss this with one of our building surveyors. The Design WA Guidelines is a set of policies in terms of design quality and built form outcomes from large-scale structure planning to development applications and subdivision considerations. The mechanisms are described into 3 different strategy of design which are: Design Principles, Design Review ad Design Skills. Design principles are what define a building with a “good design”. It includes  context and character, landscape quality, built form and scale, functionality and build quality, sustainability, amenity, legibility, safety, community and aesthetics. Design Review involves a panel of experts on the built environment in order to assess the proposed design following the methodology described in the WAPC Design Review Guide.
